Rhinestone Color Charts

Rhinestones are typically sold in a gross (144 stones) and vary in quality. These stones come in two basic types: Point Back (chaton) and Flat Back (chaton rose). Today, most clothing decorations are done with Flat Back Rhinestones, which is the type of stone compatible with motif setting machines. Point Back rhinestones are used for jewelry applications.

Rhinestones are made of class and they derive their brilliance from the type of glass used and the cut of the rhinestone. Rhinestones with more facets will climmer more than those cut with fewer facets and rhinestones cut with fewer facets will flash more than those cut with a higher number of facets.

Fine rhinestones have lead added to the glass to produce Lead Crystal, which are a far more reflective stone than merely glass. Flat Back rhinestones are made of either Lead Crystal, Glass or Acrylic. Acrylic stones will not be as bright as glass, and there are no glass rhinestones that are as bright as Lead Crystal.
